Bluetooth sound is late or crackly

Why headphones add a small delay, and how to clean up crackles.

What it is

Bluetooth headphones add a short delay. In Music quality it’s usually a quarter to half a second. Crackles are often distance or interference.

When to use it

Try these if sound is late or breaks up.

How to do it

  1. A small delay in Music quality is normal. If you need less delay, try Hands-free in You › Bluetooth audio. It sounds more like a phone call.

  2. Keep your phone on the same side of your body as the headphones. Bodies and metal shelving block Bluetooth.

  3. Turn off other Bluetooth devices you aren’t using.

  4. Lower Volume boost for Bluetooth if it’s very high.

  5. Turn the headphones off and on, or reconnect them.
